Gearbox Repair
If your manual gearbox is making noises that it shouldn’t be, or you are having difficulty selecting gears, why not pop past and let us take a look at it? We can offer advice on a suitable course of action, and we offer a strip & inspect service which allows us to give you a no obligation quote for repair. We can also remove and reinstall the gearbox into your car to make the whole job stress free.
Competition Gearboxes
STM’s experience with high powered rally, circuit and drag cars gives us the expertise to recommend and fit the correct gearbox components to suit your application. We can provide high quality PPG gear sets to suit a number of applications. These gear sets are the same units we rely on in a number of our high powered drag cars. They are available in either dog or synchromesh engagement, and straight cut or helical cut gear designs.
We are able to provide a full installation service on any PPG gearset. Drop in your old gearbox and we can strip it, clean and inspect it and fit the new gearset ready for installation into your car.
We are also experienced with clutchless gearboxes designed specifically for drag race use, such as G-Force and Liberty. We can source rebuild parts for these gearboxes and rebuild them as required.
Differential
The team at STM can specify the correct differential parts to suit your application. We can supply and install LSD
centres for a number of applications, and adjust their action to suit your driving style. We can also setup your differential to ensure perfect tooth contact, resulting in reliable and quiet operation.
Driveline Products
With our years of drag racing experience, we have broken more axles or drivetrain components than most. We have learnt from these breakages, and can recommend, supply and fit upgraded axles and driveline components to suit a number of cars and applications.
Clutches
Over the years we have tried just about every clutch available on the market. We understand the importance of fitting a clutch that will handle your engine’s torque, and we also understand how frustrating a harsh or aggressive clutch can be in peak hour traffic. We base our recommendations on both your engine’s performance as well as your useage to ensure the best compromise between smooth driveability and torque handling.
